5 yr anniversary of the CZU Lightning Complex Fire. I caught this shot driving out to Big Basin SP earlier this week to commemorate the fire recovery. This time, it was (lifting) fog, not smoke.

A globe shaped flower, orange with dark spots, with pistils hanging below, against a background of green wide blades of grass. Part of another flower is visible in the lower right corner.
I am a volunteer docent at Big Basin Redwoods state park. A fellow docent mentioned that there were leopard lilies in bloom at a spot in Opal Creek about a mile up, and I found them. First time I had seen them at this park, though I had seen them before at […]

I wanna go back already 😫#bigbasin
Visited #BigBasin redwood forest w Beth. I hadn't been since the CZU fire had burnt 98% of the forest. It was very sad to see the devastation. Also so inspiring to see the resilience and new green growth. 1000s of year old trees surviving near death. Resiliance! (costumes by monicacanilao)
View of a trail with young redwoods on either side. The trees lost their branches in a big fire in 2020 and are recovering; the green growth close to the narrow straight trunks make them look like bottle brushes.
This photo is from yesterday's hike at Big Basin state park, on Middle Ridge fire road. The park was burned very badly in 2020 and is recovering; the young redwoods look like bottle brushes because the trunks are much more fire resistant than the branches. #hiking #photography #redwoods #BigBasin
