Great question on #GeneOntology list today from @bmeldal: can @biorxivpreprint or other #preprints be used as evidence in GO annotations (or other #biocuration)? What do you all think? #bioPeerReview #ASAPbio @biocurator
I hear a lot of "the journals would possibly not agree to X Y and Z".
I don't think that's true, see what happened with preprints. The journals will go where the community goes, we should be driving the change #bioPeerReview
Should the changes to peer-review be implemented right away in a big giant leap, or it's rather going to be a step-by-step process? How to get community to embrace widely without "scaring away"? #bioPeerReview
I guess the question I have is: will there be an effort to coordinate somewhat similar or similarly-aligned proposals? @jessicapolka #bioPeerReview
Just learned the term, clusterflock, yes it’s a real word, from @jenniferlin15 #BioPeerReview very cool work on creating graphs of the whole academic process

The gender balance in this Q&A session at #bioPeerReview is terrific
Interesting take from @mbeisen on why post-publication peer-review has not become common: As we only value and consider as review the pre-publication review process, people are not motivated to contribute afterwords. We need to change this #BioPeerReview
Berg thought of implementing some ways to evaluate the reviewers - but it failed. Nevertheless a very very important idea, which could make things better #BioPeerReview
Who can fix this? Scientists? Statisticians? Reviewers? the NIH? Funders?
Protip: if the NIH wants to help fix this, they gotta step up with $$ to backup more expensive experiments, more ppl required to perform them, etc

Lauer:
Problems that peer-review won't solve: irreproducible results due to small sample size / missing samples size calculations

I have no idea where Lauer is going with this, but I am intrigued #BioPeerReview
