This afternoon in #Argentina's wine country (lee side of Andes rigde) , foehn winds developed lifting large dust clouds. At the same time, Argentina is also covered by smoke from #biomassburning coming down from farther north and some local too.

Starting the week in #SouthAmerica, #smoke still is covering a large parts of the region.

Notably the #riverofsmoke is now going through central #Argentina and exiting to the Atlantic ocean over Rio de la Plata and #Uruguay giving the southern part of #Brazil a break .

Current #riverofsmoke is over #Argentina and then bends north to go back to south of #Brazil as seen from satellite agrees with winds from the model prediction (GFS , 500 mb )

High resolution images arrived and , with better contrast...., I guess that the words "River of smoke" is very appropriate.

As I noted yesterday, thick #smoke in S. America was moving south into #Argentina now almost reaching the Buenos Aires metropolitan area and surroundings.

Note the location of the smoke cloud yesterday and this morning.
