An ancient tupelo tree rises from the Blackwater river. The gnarled and bumpy trunk appears to descend from sky like the foot of some gigantic elephant-bird. The tree is surrounded by flowing river water and greenery from other trees of the river's edge.
This monster-foot tupelo is a few feet longer than my 13-foot kayak at base.
Trying to confirm it, but I believe the Nature Conservancy owns a portion of this section of the Blackwater.
