• A couple who are always arguing, bickering, and fighting throughout the novel. Irritating AF!
e.g.,
• Jane and Ben (The Devil You Know)
• Alice and Wade (The Things We Cannot Say)

• There's no glossary of non-English words nor a footnote to translate phrases or sentences.
I have trust issues with Google translate. I like authors who provide the English translation within the story, as part of the narrative.

• A detail of the story was repeated ad nauseam
e.g.,
- past experience of the main character that stops him/her to be in a relationship
- vow made to a dying mother
Ohbookishgods, I know, I know, I know! You've mentioned that in every other chapter.

• Book cover that doesn't match the story
e.g., blond model in the cover when the main character has dark hair; beach view in the cover, there was no mention of a beach in the story nor in the setting.
I judge a cover after reading the book.

• Introduction that dissects and gives detailed analysis of the author's writing style
You're diminishing my personal reading experience. Why not make it an Afterword instead so I can agree or disagree with your analysis.

• Looong Introduction
I can't make myself skip parts of a book, so I get annoyed before even reading the first sentence of the story/novel. It's me, I'm the problem.

• Introduction with spoilers
Not because it's a classic (or an anniversary edition) means everyone has read it! 😡🤬
