Book cover Title: The Makeup Girl, Crash on You Author: Eddy Twice *****Book review***** >Drama City< The drama in this is WAY more than I like. From page one into the epilogue, there's constant drama. I'm sorry, but it's too much. -- Book quote 'She smiled again, and it struck me like a mallet against my chest. I knew I was smitten in that instant.' -- Ethan Clent This starts with both of them in bad relationships. Neither Ethan Clent nor Ivy Holt have much of a backbone, which drives me bonkers. The chemistry between them is sometimes believable. Overall, their story was flat. Much of this is realistic. It's just not the kind of realism that I want in my romance novels - frequent bickering (not the kind with steamy makeup sex), passive-aggressive pettiness, bosses with no sense of boundaries (setting meetings in a Saturday night for Sunday morning at a M-F job), etc. That said, there are also inconsistencies with back stories and timeline. The saving grace is that Ivy seems to have good friends. I read along with the audio book. The narrators, Bonnie Walsh and Daniel Rosenberg, are fantastic. They both have lovely accents and great delivery. One thing to point out is that despite the accents, this most likely takes place in North America. This is based on London being several hours ahead of Calitain. Story: 2 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 2.5x
