With a bit of delay, I would like to sincerely thank the @biophysicalsoc.bsky.social for the travel award, without which I would not have been able to attend the wonderful BPS 2026 in San Francisco. I loved it. I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Thank you so much Anirban, I'm humbled! It was a real joy to chair this session on the evolution of membrane phenotypes...it was an incredible lineup from ancient protosterol "fossils" to unified laws of membrane elasticity. I've pasted the key papers from the session below! 🧵 #BPS2026

My culture and upbringing taught me to listen to people who make you feel bad about yourself, in a good way. James Saenz @jamessaenz.bsky.social fit that bill beautifully in his talk at the recently concluded 2026 annual meeting of the Biophysical Society @biophysicalsoc.bsky.social

Jue Chen gave the inaugural Chris Miller Award talk in the Membrane Transport Symposium at 2026 Annual Meeting of Biophysical Society. Chris is my academic grandfather and I am truly proud to be part of his scientific family. His introduction to Jue was full of wit, humor and intellect.

Following the close of #bps2026 in San Francisco, I visited the @calacademy.bsky.social and de Young Museum where I was amazed by the beautiful blown glass sculptures of Dale Chihuly. Also blown away by artist, Theresa Bernstein (1890-2002), and the great views from the tower at the Museum.

SAFETY PERMITTING, I ditch the plastic cover on coffee cups these days. This is personal opinion but who wants more nanoplastics in their brain ? Watch what you eat and drink ! Scientists consume an enormous amount of coffee at conferences. Perhaps that’s a place to start ?

My first ever BPS conference was more than a success!! I gave a talk, presented a poster, networked with potential postdoc mentors, made new science friends, schemed with the lab tech in the exhibitor halls, dilly dallied and explored San Fran with my lab and friends #BPS2026

Hopefully coming back from #BPS2026 today; pending flight delays!. Saw lots of cool talks & posters on protein dynamics, & AI in protein structure & dynamics. Lots of tools to play with for my own research + people to check out and possibly invite for NextGen talks and/or JBSD articles.
