In today's brew day episode we have a basic mead, a hard lemonade, and for science we have a tomato wine, and a beetroot wine. Placed on a plastic tray in case they get messy.

#Brewday was supposed to be a relaxing time while the rest of the household are at work / school. Boil was almost an hour longer while I dropped kid off at lunchtime & chiller stopped with lager wort at 18°C so I could collect my offspring at chucking out time.
I think the ladies had a good brew day yesterday for International Womens day.

The long weekend ends with a #brewday. A lager using pale Munich malt & Hallertaur Mittelfruh hops. Obstacles have been thrown in my way, but I am overcoming them & the boil has only been extended a little while a 2nd (successful) attempt at delivering my kid to school occurs #homebrew.

Just a test brew today, using up old ingredients to check the flow of the setup, that everything's working, and the quantities fit in the kit.
Did a full deep clean and leak test the last couple of days, now to start playing around with ingredients.

Final #brewday of 2025 is in the bag. This is my annual teaching beer that I ferment with 6 different yeasts, which are then used as aroma samples in my course on industrial fermentation. A fun way to explore yeast biochemistry! This year I'm using a Czech style pilsner as the base beer.

The cool thing: This happened RIGHT AWAY. As soon as I added it, I could feel a difference. It went from a porridge consistency to a much more traditional mash consistency. I've added before and after pictures, you can literally see the difference. #AmBrewing #Brewday

Today's #Brewday is a NZ Brit IPA. 2Kg pale malt & 1 Kg of extra pale malt in the mash. Just finished sparging & now waiting for the wort temp to come up to the boil now.
I'm alone in the house, so nobody is making a mess quicker than I can tidy it & I don't have to worry about my #Brewday crossing a meal time. The sun is shining too, so I anticipate the washing machine running all morning.
I'm having a midweek weekend & a #Brewday is occurring. I've boiled the mash tun in sodium carbonate, then citric acid, rinsed & now the mash water is coming up to temperature.
