Priya emigrated from India to the United States thirty years ago, and she is currently a professor in the department of Public Health at SUNY Brockport. Brockport Artists’ Guild’s Artist of the Month for 2026 is Thomas Zangerle! Thomas Zangerle always makes sure to have paints available to document his adventures, and takes lots of photos and sketches to draw inspiration from. Thomas has found his identity as a landscape painter. His paintings reflect a sense of place and pleasant feeling when immersed in an environment that touches him and stirs his imagination. Combining the elements of art and design principles with his love of the natural world is his goal, as well as transferring that vision and feeling to others.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 🥳 Our January 2026 Artist of the Month is David Walter! David Walter took his first photograph, a self-portrait, at the age of two. Little could he have known how this would direct his life. After studying photography at the Academy Art University in San Francisco, David went to New York City to continue his training. Many more years were spent learning how to best express his thoughts and feelings through photography. After retiring from the School of Photography at RIT, David is now able to spend the time he desires to pursue his art. brockportartistsguild.org/davidwalter

Kimberly has worked with acrylics for approximately a decade, on traditional canvas, leather and stone. She also enjoys fluid painting. Steven Trembley has been drawing since he was five years old, taking inspiration from children's books and video games from a young age. Brockport Artists’ Guild’s September 2025 Artist of The Month is Gay Smith! Gay Smith is an acrylic, watercolor, oil, and pastel painter. As a elementary school teacher, she applied her artistic skills, when creating bulletin board displays, posters, mimeograph sheets, and other tasks. She’s created visuals for various nonprofits, as well as the Department of Defense and other government committees. It wasn’t until eventually acquiring most of her mother-in-law’s art supplies that Gay actively pursued more personal art. It’s officially August, and what a BEAUTIFUL start! ☀️ Brockport Artists’ Guild’s August 2025 Artist of the Month is Marco Rodriguez! 🧑‍🎨🎨 Marco Rodriguez was born the son of poor migrant workers. As a young child, he remembers drawing for hours at a time; he drew everything from flowers, birds, farm animals, wildlife, Batman, Spiderman, martians, spaceships, and cool race cars. By age 13, he made his first oil painting. He took all the art courses he could in high school. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and went on to a career at General Motors, managing design engineers and found a love for drawing cars and gears. Upon retiring, Marco started exploring making art with crayons, leading on to pastels, watercolor, acrylic, oil paint, ink, charcoal, and more! Brockport Artists’ Guild’s July 2025 Artist of the Month is Nancy Radzik! Nancy was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She studied art and education in college, eventually becoming an art instructor. “Scavenged thoughts” is the way Nancy would summarize her collage and assemblage artworks — a blending of collected materials and borrowed thoughts. Nancy has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and is also the co-creator of several organizations and art groups. She enjoys making friends and creating new work for future shows in which she participates.

Adrian Morris is Brockport Artists’ Guild’s June 2025 Artist of the Month! Adrian Morris is an Irish-born artist living in Western New York. Though life brought him to the United States in 2008, Ireland remains at the heart of his identity. Oil painting is his primary medium. Deeply connected to his Celtic heritage, he draws inspiration from Ireland's landscapes, and from the spirit of its people. He also finds inspiration in the struggles and triumphs of figures like Frederick Douglas, and the musical genius of Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong. Adrian feels compelled to create. Brockport Artists’ Guild’s May 2025 Artist of The Month is Roseanne Mascari! 👩‍🎨 Roseanne Mascari attended SUNY Buffalo as an art major before getting sidetracked by life and technology. She was a mechanical designer, then a technical writer at Eastman Kodak Company for many years. She has had a great time returning to her artist life since then. She is currently exploring abstract painting, working primarily in acrylics. She likes to start with color and shape, then see where it takes her. She credits having immeasurable support through her memberships in Brockport Artist Guild, and her art club in Tarpon Springs, Florida, where she resides in the winter. Her art recently won third place in a juried show, located in Florida, during the winter season.

Brockport Artists’ Guild’s February 2025 Artist of the Month is Esther Kuhlkin! Esther Kuhlkin started out as a digital artist, though her main focus at present is in graphite. She has since learned all sorts of new and unexpected concepts through exercises in value and proportionality. Additionally, she began elective art classes at the start of the 2023-2024 school year, forcing her out of her comfort zone through the use of acrylic and watercolor. Esther enjoys learning new mediums and immersing herself in this field, and would love to one day enter a career path involved in art.

Welcome to one of our newest members, Valerie Collins! She enjoys creating artwork using colored pencils, acrylics and oils. She has painted on various materials including gourds, rocks, wood, canvas, and glass. Wanting to improve her skills, she currently attends a weekly drawing class at Hart Gallery 27 in Brockport, NY. Valerie recently decided to take this hobby to the next level by joining the Brockport Artists’ Guild and is looking forward to her next adventure!

Brockport Artists' Guild's "Artist of The Month" for December 2024 is Len Ippolito. Len Ippolito worked for 39 years as a science and math teacher, a software documentation writer, and a process control technical instructor. When he retired, he said "nevermore" to technology. Len is a dedicated tinkerer. He has painted with oils, drawn with graphite and pastel, carved wood with knives and gouges, turned wood on a lathe, and made wooden projects. Items from his workshop can be considered art, or maybe quasi-art.
