Antagonist concept art for Broken Dimensions: Fractal Alliances. The illustration shows a woman in armor and torn fabric standing at an odd angle. She has grand wings, but in addition to the fully feathered set, she also has 2 additional sets of inky black, molting, bony ghosts of wings. The same inky black shadows are creeping and winding up her disfigured legs and up her body as blue magic crackles across her arms like lightning. An inverted blue triangle (which is supposed to show her emblem but I didn’t draw it there) glows at the base of her throat. I’ve Rhea’s head is a ghostly blue halo or magic, as well as a pointed, triangular emblem (here) which glows over her forehead. In the dim black of the space above her, a faint scythe symbol can barely be seen, haloed faintly in blue. Character: Adira Eagriss, corrupt queen turned megalomaniac, self-experimenting mad scientist (and perpetrator of a genocide).

The same image as previous, generally, but with color alterations. Instead of an overall blue and black color scheme, some of the lighting is tinged green as well. A subtle change, but definitely adds some atmosphere.

Another variant in which the underlighting has an orange hue and the blue of Adira’s magic has been carved out as well. A starker color contrast overall.

A final variant with the most color. Purples, blues, greens, gold, and reddish pink. There is more color to her magic as well, and the e gradient map have been layered and manipulated to create the most color-diverse version of this illustration. It’s probably my favorite, personally.

I actually have several iterations of that piece! I didn’t realize I hadn’t posted them here yet :)

A character design concept for Ev Stark, one of the main characters of the artist's original project, Fractal Alliances. Ev is an average height, masculine character with androgynous presentation. They have tan skin marked with orange bands visible on their face, wrists, and biceps, as well as many scars. Here, their hair has been freshly cut to have a short fade and a fluffy top; their hair is brown at the roots and turns white and orange on the longer parts (magic effect). They have eyes with dark sclera and pink around their iris and pupil. Their expression is stoic, their hands are curled into fists at their sides. Ev's outfit design here was done for a gala event in a part of the current wip story with FA. They're wearing a base layer black tank top that reaches partway up their neck, as well as a sheer overlayer dress shirt that is a warm brown tone. The dress shirt is cuffed at mid-arm length. Ev is also wearing brown, multi-tone pants with many pockets and padded knees. They're in their trademark armored boots, which are black with metal plating over the arch, toe, and heel and have an orange and blue gravity manipulation orb over each ankle. On their right hip is a dagger holster which holds their genera'ka (Talkian council of generals) blade.

Bringing this back because 1) idk if I posted it here, 2) I like this outfit for Ev, and 3) I'm going back through some of my sketch blocks for fun lol

A pencil sketch of the man from the last pic getting enthusiastically kissed by a shorter masculine (?) person who has one hand on his hip pocket and one… elsewhere :) Corrin is getting a little heated; he’s easily overwhelmed by physical stimuli and affection. (There’s a reason he live din his armor during his Vanguard days.) Jesse, the other party, is going to town lol. Jesse also has short, curly hair and although you can’t tell because I done color most of my sketches and his features are small here, they are a mixed-race brown person. (They are also trans and genderqueer, but for the purposes of this sketch, they’re not at that point in the timeline yet lol. He’s still an egg.)

Another figure in the mid ground faces towards the furthest character, which can be construed as loyalty to that character (and the ones with visors therefore being loyal (in some fashion) to the one wielding the scythe). The colors of this concept piece are dark, vaguely purplish, with the bright parts being predominantly yellow, orange, and gold with some blue in the sky and visors.

A grayscale, 1-page comic containing five panels of varying size. The focal character doing most of the speaking is Evansen Stark, a short-haired mixed-race masc person depicted here in armor with a sword over one shoulder. The quote used for the comic is that one Critical Role (?) quote about how laws are threats. In panel 1, it's just Ev starting out with "Laws..." and then they go into the rest of the spiel and in panel 2 they're standing in a military camp over several teenage rebels (namely Thelia and Markis Sparkes here). In panel 3 they continue, with a small aside that says "not entirely unlike us right now" after the bit about how the "police are basically an occupying army." In panel 4 they kind of chuckle and say "y'know what I mean?" The last panel is the largest and pans out to show Ev standing over the kids and asking if they want to make bacon. In the foreground in a darker shade, apart from the convo Ev is having, Fin and Talis stand aside together. Fin subtly asks Talis if Ev is an anarchist, and Talis says "yeah." Fin snort and says that's ironc (it is).

She is twisting her fingers together in a self-soothing manner. The fourth character is Sky, a short non-human a shade lighter than Mia. She has short, pale hair and a thin tail, and is clearly dressed in clothes a size too big for her (Nyra's). She has a bandana tied around her left bicep. The final character is Nathan Shasear in his grad student era. He's in a tee and jeans, and boots that are visibly Doc Martens. He's also carrying a shitton of books and scrolls, and looks vaguely pissed that he's here at all.

PL was an idea I came up with way back in 2019 pre-COVID (and pre-BrDim) that has since become a part of Broken Dimensions' lore. It's been fun to revisit and rework it!

He's blushing a little, but there's a chorus of recurring "FUCK FUCK FUCK" around his head as he tries to get away. A series of magic cords around his leg prevent him from doing so. Beneath this first sketch are two smaller ones, one of which is a comic-like panel depicting Serra Tyrannis, a black vampire (and formerly Nathan's husband, though at this point in the story they are... not that). They are staring forward (at Nathan) and laughing tauntingly as they call out to him. Nathan stops struggling, and the next tiny doodle has Serra saying "gotcha :)" and Nathan saying "shit."

Another Nathan-only sketch in the same ink colors as the previous pic. More "Your Idol" lyrics. He is reaching out towards the viewer here, a hand outstretched, offering you solace/absolution/whatever you want if you just give up and ceded control of your mind/body/soul/magic :)
