This black-and-white long-exposure photo was taken in the Amtrak waiting room in Hudson. It was shot with a 1960 Brownie Starmite camera that has an unpredictable slow shutter. Sometimes it works perfectly, and other times you get a shot like this as a gift. I love shooting with old, lensless, slightly off cameras.

a large black and white photo. Our scene is set with the back of a street sign against a lightly cloudy sky, off to one side is a tower crane and a street light in front of it. Almost in centre frame, a magpie takes flight. Its feet having just left the top of the sign, both wings fully outstretched in its launch. One wing looks clear, the other a blur as its whole form seems to stretch just a little into the air.

Got my test roll back from the Brownie No. 2 :3 this was easily my favourite shot from it
