This black-and-white photo shows a Basset Hound sitting behind a metal fence on 9th Street near Avenue A, across from Thompson Square Park in the East Village of New York. I have a love-hate relationship with the Diana camera. I tend to be very hard on cameras, and the Holga is not as fragile as the Diana.

This black-and-white long-exposure photo was taken in the Amtrak waiting room in Hudson. It was shot with a 1960 Brownie Starmite camera that has an unpredictable slow shutter. Sometimes it works perfectly, and other times you get a shot like this as a gift. I love shooting with old, lensless, slightly off cameras.

This black-and-white photograph depicts the misty Hudson River with distant Catskill Mountains obscured by fog. This Brownie Starmite's shutter is slightly off, some would say broken.

The Oyster Bar restaurant. It was closed during the pandemic, and it seemed to take a really long time to reopen.

I had a work lunch there once. The restaurant was visually stunning, straight out of Mad Men. The arches and the tables were just fabulous. I think they remodeled or were sold recently.

Congratulations! Hope you had a great opening. Really great work.

This black-and-white photograph depicts a peaceful natural scene, specifically a view of the Hudson River at Stony Point, NY. The camera is from 1953, and the imperfections are due to its lens.

This black-and-white photograph shows a rainy street scene in Midtown Manhattan. The tall, cylindrical building on the left is the Lipstick Building, located at 885 Third Avenue.

The Falcon Miniature 127 half-frame film cameras were manufactured in New York by the Utility Manufacturing Company. The camera bodies were made of Bakelite and resembled the 35mm Argus A. The image format was 3×4 cm, with dual red windows to advance the film. Most cameras included a compartment for an extra film roll.

When B&H began charging over $15 to re-spool 120 film into 127, I started buying cheap Arista.edu film, hand-cutting it in a camera bag, and then re-spooling it onto 127.

This black-and-white Slim Devil plastic camera photograph shows the exterior of the Oculus, a transportation hub and shopping mall at the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, the structure is intended to resemble a bird in flight.

There are three main points about this from a New York perspective. You are either traumatized by it, but you have to use it. You use it every day, and it doesn't bother you at all because you weren’t here, or you were here and have no reason to ever go down there, so you don’t. I’ve been shooting in Lower Manhattan since 2000. I see a few other street photographers down there now and then, mostly of my age. We all have a hollowed-out look. 3,000 people died here, and now it’s full—really full—of tourists walking around a graveyard, shopping, and lining up to see a crushed firetruck. This location is on the other side, away from everyone.

This black-and-white holgapan is part of the 51st Street Pedestrian Walkway, which crosses over the FDR. The bridge starts at Tudor City and extends across to the walkway along the East River. The tall, curved fencing is meant to prevent people from throwing objects into traffic or jumping over it. This photograph was taken in the pouring rain.

This black and white holgapan captures one of the iconic marble lion statues, named Fortitude, which guards the entrance of the New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
The two lions, named Patience and Fortitude by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia during the Great Depression, have become beloved symbols of New York City.
They were placed on their pedestals in May 1911, just days before the majestic Beaux-Arts building opened to the public at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street in Manhattan.

This Holgapan black-and-white photograph was taken of the fountain in Washington Square Park, New York City, on a very hot summer day. The person on the right is pointing to a group of people off camera. The group had been arguing, and he was telling them to "Shut the fuck up."
