California desert tortoise hydrating in a concrete mixing tub lined with a plastic bag. He is keeping his nostrils just above water trying to warm himself up in the water as much as he can because it’s a cool day today (only 21°c or 70°F) and nights have been cool and are getting longer.

Yesterday 102-year old #AndyTheTortoise went into #brumation. He will spend the next 5-6 months in the cool & dark.
