Slightly more than a dozen crocuses are shown. The crocuses have a mix of lighter and darker colored purple petals. The stamen and pistil are deli mustard yellow-colored. The crocuses have emerged from a dense layer of brown leaf litter. Most of the leaves are not yet decomposed, with their individual characteristics including tree type stll identifiable. A pale grey stick and pods from another tree are mixed in with the leaves. Blades of grass appear next to the crocuses.
Crocuses are a harbinger for #spring. They've emerged through the fall's #leaflitter*. Happy #SundaySpringDay

A white lid ~50mm diameter contains some of the invertebrates collected in a baited pitfall trap in France.
Any #diptera people interested in a couple of #flies from France? These turned up in my pitfall samples from #leaflitter, along with some other inverts.
Also at least four spp. of #ants (which is what I was looking for).

A picture of part of my rock garden that I am scraping leaves off of. It's right underneath the mountain ash. Reddish brown leaves stuck to colorful rocks. And it's probably not visible, but there is either mold (🤮) or some kind of spider webs (🤮🤮).
Another part of my garden, this one with even more leaves. There are some light green rocks peaking out, and one darker green and white marbled-kinda looking rock. A few red rocks, and one speck of an orange one.
I can't believe how many of these aquamariney colored ones I have that I forgot about! This one is about 5-6 cm across, and has quite a few cracks running across it.
