Splash art for a Perfect Sin from the ttrpg CAIN. This one is what looks to be a uniformed man on a carousel horse, but upon closer inspection, the man's marching-band uniform is made of carapace and skin, the mask and hat jutting from their head, a pair of curling horns growing over their eyes, and their legs conjoining at the horse's shoulders. The horse too is covered in carapace and exposed bone, it's segments almost reminiscent of mechanical parts. The carousel stick is a long pole made of bone, wrapped in the leathery skin that makes up the horse's reins, and ending at a figure-eight shape, almost like a wind-up key. The horse has four orange eyes, staring forward as it gallops on, the rider unable to see but trusting its steed.

It was a zombie cleanup mission with a Virtues apprentice belonging to my friend. Lovely little session that ended with them using Justice power to turn "Skin to Skin" and make Freak-Chan wish to be a real anime girl. Which, finished their arc before they started it, that was their whole goal, but it still led to very cool plotpoints later.

Freak-chan at their shadow person phase. The rose they have here conceals all their skin, for psychic ppl making them look like a shadow person, normal people just see someone they can't quite recall after they stop looking at them. A gift from a very special being.

I do recommend the system and setting because I think it's great. I'm all for messed-up weirdos fighting Trauma Demons. Me, I personally would recommend doing a bit of homebrewing to make the Sins deadlier and the risks riskier.

With the final boss slain, our game ended with one character faking their death, another continuing to fight Sins well-past retirement, one exploring the psychic sea with her dad after discovering she was half-Drifter, and another character unionizing the Exorcists. 2/2

I wrapped up a 21-session CAIN campaign tonight and while I was unable to actually kill any of my PCs (we were running off v1.2 and man, Exorcist powers are Busted), my players still had a great time unravelling mysteries, fighting monsters, and navigating the bureaucracy. 1/2
