Was really pleasantly surprised by the turnout in #Castleblayney today for a Walk for Gaza, especially given it was organised at such short notice. #palestine #gaza #saoirsedonphalastine

A driver’s eye ciew (parked, of course) of the main entrance to Lidl, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, where pallets of compost and shelves of plants block the way from the blue badge parking spaces. From this angle, it’s not immediately obvious that the display is actually taking up one of those spaces, too.

Standing at the entrance to Lidl, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, where the entrance is blocked by plant displays, and one of the blue badge spaces is actually being taken over by the store so they can sell a few shrubs. The only way a person can get from their car to a blue badge space, or vice versa, is by walking into oncoming traffic, which is also unsighted due to this menagerie. I myself, when visiting the store with my blue badge holding wife, came cropper when I had to push the trolley off the higher portion of the footpath. The trolley came close to toppling over and depositing its contents everywhere. Can only imagine how much more difficult it would be for a person with difficulties with mobility.

I find #Lidl in general show little respect to people with disabilities, but my local store in #Castleblayney in #Monaghan takes the biscuit. Access limited by plant display, and now they’re taking up one of the precious spaces, too. To say nothing of actually enforcing #bluebadges

Wandered up to Co. Monaghan today, breezy but beautiful in the Killarney of the North

On a trip to #Ireland a number of years ago, I ran across an octogenarian living in #Castleblayney, who grew up on a farm next to my family's. It was my ggrandfather's birthplace. He drove us to the farm. The house, now used for storage, is still standing. Quite moving
