A black tuxedo cat named Hawkwood and a white calico cat named Lucatiel snuggle together in a slightly collapsed soft-sided purple pet carrier. This is actually their brother's carrier.
It's routine vet visit day for the Crayola Crew. I leave the carriers out all the time so the Crew doesn't get AS scared when it's time to go.
If they stay there for 30 minutes my life gets so much easier.
Although...this is Anri's carrier. Neither of these cats are Anri.

Stage 2: Lucatiel endeavors to get more comfortable. Her front paws - still sticking out - droop some. Her head is angled down, more into my leg. One eye is closed. Hawkwood is still in the background on the couch arm. I think he was trying to figure out if he could smush himself anywhere next to me.
Stage 3: Lucatiel seems to have found her position! Both eyes are closed and she's leaning heavily against my leg. Paws outstretched. Serene. Behind her Hawkwood has finally lost interest and was staring into the kitchen

Blueberry is a Lynx point siamese mix kitten with a gold fusted nose and big blue eyes. You can see them in this picture but he also has white feet which would make him a "snowshoe" not to be confused with a Clown Shoe. He is sitting on the top of my pillows, and behind him is my assorted garlands and photos and ornaments included a felted ball garland in rainbow colors (from Trader Joes--excellent sustainable Holiday ornament) a paper crafted hippo, and a felted whale shark, a felted triangle garland in rainbow colors (can't remember where that came from) It is kind of blurry but there is also a little set of flower lights from Ikea. So yeah it has been a week. My friend Emily's husband got DOGEd and no one was expecting it because he is with the DoD, and both of them have autoimmune diseases and are trying to work as long as possible and they are barely 30! Their two little girls are in Girl Scouts and every time I support them, I get a hand drawn thank you card and it usually features Blueberry because THEY LOVE HIM SO MUCH! My fridge is covered with drawings from other peoples' kids. I love that. I cannot shake this kidney infection and I am starting to think it isn't an infection at all but something else like stones or maybe I am finally a cat and I have those crystals that cats get. My staff scientist is leaving my non profit (work work, not side work) and going into consulting and hiring has been a drag mostly because she is perfect and I adore her work and her whole being and our tiny office of three will not be the same when she's gone. I know she isn't dying or even leaving the area but V and I will miss her so much. She really brings out the best in us. Ben has been in DC for the last three days for a conference which has been a difficult one for him and he was so stressed in advance of it that he didn't set me up for success at home which was problematic because I've been sick but he did apologize for that. He comes home this afternoon. Yay!
