A protester, featuring a long haired gray cat on a colorful background painted with watercolors. Yellow text reads, “paws off our rights.” The central image is framed with stylized paw prints.
Image two and three describe the cat’s relationship to the movement: Blue (first image) will be 9 years old in April. He was adopted from a rescue in 2018. He identifies as a nebelung and loves to play with toy mice and snuggle. If he were human, he’d be an engineer and a really good friend. He believes everyone, regardless of race, nationality, citizenship status , ability, socioeconomic status, sexuality or gender identity deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. It goes without saying that all people should be afforded due process, but why stop there? Women should have autonomy of their bodies; the government should ensure equal access to voting rights; education should be accessible, affordable, and safe; all people should have access to healthcare, housing, clean water, and food; access to public spaces and fair treatment at work should not be contingent upon gender identity or ability; and separation of church and state should be respected. Blue says, “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand this. KEEP YOUR PAWS OFF OUR RIGHTS.”
Blue has entered the chat. They have consented to the use their likeness for cat themed protest art.
