Later, our crew found the very same rubber boat: empty, with belongings left behind. Those crossing #CentralMed to seek safety had been forced back by the so-called Libyan Coast Guard, in yet another illegal pullback trampling on human rights by bringing people back to Libya.

🖤 Three sisters aged 9, 11 and 17 drowned in the #CentralMed, another person remains missing. Our NADIR crew rescued 65 people from a flooded, overcrowded rubber boat that same night, on saturday early morning.

The group had departed Zuwara, Libya, the day before.

1/2 83 days were lost during transit in 2025 alone. 83 days we could have spent in the #centralmed fulfilling our duty. Days of transit at sea for survivors are delaying access to the care they need on land.

3/3 "I look forward to starting a new chapter in my life and leaving behind some sad memories," shares Nabil, who fled Bangladesh. He is one of 108 survivors now facing 4 extra days at sea to reach a distant port, while lives continue to be lost in the #CentralMed.

2/3 Meanwhile, a shipwreck in the #CentralMed was reported on 05/05, with around 50 lives lost one of many tragedies in recent months. We need more SAR presence, not less. Silence and inaction cost lives.

Italian authorities assigned Marina di Carrara as Place of Safety – 1222 km away. This removes vital rescue capacity from the #centralMed where it is needed the most.

The #OceanViking already sailed 63,381 km to reach distant ports since the Piantedosi decree came into force.
