It meant a new kind of struggle through Jim Crow lynchings and institutional racism that still echoes today. Slavery isn't just a scar, it's a wound that was is never truly allowed to heal. It's legacy still lives on in prisons, in poverty and policies. To move forward, we have to face the full truth of where we began. Silence keeps the cycle going. Awareness breaks it.
