Still shivering Alphinaud looks up at her.

Chione declares to Ysyale: “I have…some sort of feelings for you. It may be love. Or mayhap not…” It is sudden but Ysyale is unimpressed by her show. “Ah. So succinctly put. Do let me know when you've figured it out?” she bites out, and Chione believes it well deserved. She called the Elezen woman out here, yet delivered her message with doubts and uncertainties. Ysayle has the right mind to turn heel and walk away but Chione catches her wrist before she can quit the viera entirely. “Forgive me. I… These emotions, I don't fully understand them myself. Until recently, I've not thought highly of mankind. The pests of the world. Oft I wonder if it would be better without them roaming about and spawning more of their kind. Festering.” Chione’s words taper off and Ysyale studies her gaze. “I believe I reveal far too much of my detest for man.”

“Indeed. Yet I'm flattered that the feelings do not seem to extend to me.” Ysyale smiles and offers a question to the Viera “Tell me, Chione, what is it about me that leads you to believe you love me? Or ‘mayhap’ love me?” Ysayle quotes her with a derisive tone. The question challenges Chione. Her eyes narrow in confusion and she repeats back, “What is it?” trying to fully understand what Ysayle is asking. Ysyale huffs an irritated sigh. “Yes, what do you like about me? And, if you have never felt as such before, what makes you so certain that what you feel is love? Are you absolutely positive that you do not hate me as well?”

Chione crosses her arms and hums. It was a fair query, Chione admits to herself and she lets out an amused chuckle. “Nay, I am familiar with hate. This is far from it.” Chione's bright orange eyes lock with Ysayle’s piercing white ones, then slowly slide to her hair, long and flowing, lavishly down her shoulders. “If you are to know what I like about you,” Chione steps forward and twines a lock of Ysyales hair between her fingers and places it to her lips in a brief kiss, before saying, “Your hair is lovely.” Ysyale is taken aback by the kiss to her hair. A light blush forms on her pale cheeks and she softens to the touch. “I-is that so?” “Indeed. Beautiful and long. And this pure white color,” Chione smiles fondly, “It reminds me of my Goddess.”

“H-halone?” Ysayle’s shoulders drop. Any amount of happiness she may have felt dissipates as Chione nods in confirmation. A bitter laugh breaks free of the elezens woman's lips. “I see.” She brushes Chione's hand away and takes a step back, turning away from the viera. Chione tilts her head. “Is aught amiss?” Ysayle’s words were as cold as the ice spells she wielded. “Yes, flattering as it is to be compared to a god, I do not wish to be pursued by you if I am to remind you of another.” She turns heel and nearly runs off before Chione can get another word in, leaving the immortal being by her lonesome, contemplating her poor attempt at courting a woman.

I wrote a short drabble for Chionysayle confession that might get retconned later but I wanted to convey that Chione is not perfect in every situation 🤭
