In 1981, Keith Haring was invited to be apart of a group show and create a wall painting at the Annina Nosei Gallery. Known for weaving childhood imagery like Mickey Mouse into his work, Haring began with his process: sketching the border, then adding bold cartoon eyes and a nose. Realizing he had placed the face too far to the side, Haring improvised, adding a third eye to balance the composition. That quick decision turned into one of his iconic motifs, now recognized alongside his famous baby and barking dog.
