Three women who are friends walk together. We visited all the painted utility boxes in the city. This one has two ostriches or emus with a blue sky background. One animal is a profile and smaller, while the other one is large and looking in the face of the viewer. One woman is pretending to pet the animal.

A bronze Mountie on horseback statue at Fort Calgary. Located at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers, the monument commemorates the North West Mounted Police.

A bronze sculpture by Alberta artist Harry O'Hanlon (1915-1996). O'Hanlon also sculpted the well known life-size family of horses which are on the plaza outside City Hall.

The artist, J. Seward Johnson Jr. has bronze works prominently displayed in many North American cities. Trivia: he was the grandson of one of the founders of Johnson & Johnson, today one of the world's most valuable companies and one of only two U.S.-based companies that has a prime credit rating of AAA.

In June in #downtown #Calgary I photographed this interesting lifesize bronze statue by J. Seward Johnson Jr (1930-2020). Titled “The Winner," this 1983 work is of a man studiously deciding his next move in a #chess game. What better POV than from the subject’s opponent? #yyc #CivicArt
