12/21/24 “Sorry… just,” I lowered my voice, “Kayla is so over-protective right now. She thinks because he didn’t come to dinner that he just shouldn’t come around at all.” I huffed out another sigh, my lip jutting out in a pout as I recalled that discussion with my cousin. My surfer hadn’t hurt my feelings. He just wasn’t ready yet. “Shall we continue?” Char asked, apparently not wanting to get in the middle of an ongoing argument over any of this. I nodded and she turned over one of the last three cards. The Seven of Pentacles. “This is your environment in general. I can see the way you’re dealing with this man is all trial and error at this point. You’re trying to figure out some kind of magic words that will unlock him, but that’s not the way he works.” She started laughing a moment later, “He’s more like an alarm clock. He has a setting and when it’s time, it’ll just set him off and he’ll finally be awake and ready.” She leaned closer, “But have coffee just in case.”
