Streetartwall. On the outside wall of a typical four-storey apartment building in New York is a spray-painted portrait of a dark-haired girl in shades of gray. She is wearing a striped sweater, has her arms side by side and her head resting on her hands. She looks a little bored or dreamy. Snow covers the ground around the mural. A red folding chair is stuck in a mound of snow. Tall streetlights, other buildings and a busy street can be seen. In the far background, a bridge is bathed in light snowfall and fog.
Info:
The mural is known as "The Mona Lisa of Williamsburg" and was created by the then 17-year-old photographer Steven Paul, who entered and won an art competition with his photo "Lost Time". It shows his girlfriend in a cafeteria. The mural is now a popular photo motif for New York tourists.
