Spent Sunday fettling with another four 1541 drives. Nothing I did went right. Ended up having all four in bits with various issues and couldn't sort a fecking thing. I rage quit the ManCave. Hoping to get my Mojo back sometime this week.

Needs must. Have decided to change the psu in this drive so it has 2 x smpsus for the 5 and 12v. Had to test it worked tho first as thus is a newtronics mech with potential for head rot. But, it's all cool. Modifications begin.

If your kit is dead and you remove a fuse and it looks like this... Something is very wrong. Don't put another one in, it'll go bang. Again.

So, just resurrected a VIC 20 board, kindly donated by @lukhash.bsky.social. Common fault on these boards is the failure of the 901486-07 kernal. This one was no exception, even if it did have 2 bent legs...
