A concrete poem in the shape of ginkgo leaves. The poem reads: "Last of my family, I can still recall the Great Dying. The last time I breathed air like this, there were no continents, we lived on that fiery Pangea born of collision, where no asteroid had yet struck, where flowers had not yet begun to evolve, and my family still lived. But these days, I feel my cells breathe familiar air that tastes of extinction. A hundred million years I've been the only one one left, a 'living fossil' and soon a dead one. You say I'm endangered, I say I miss forests of Fern and gymnosperms where nothing could yet call itself king which did not have scales. But perhaps if the sky grows hotter still, I can call forth from myself a legion of offspring, resurrect my dead sisters, and grow a new order of many-lobed, fan-shaped beauties, with golden leaves, to cover a new Pangea ripe with methane and sweltering with lizards.
