This article reminds me of a recent discussion I had with participants on #CorpusMOOC: how labelling language uses like "ain't" and "isn't" as simply standard or non-standard risks reinforcing social discrimination, as choices like "ain't" are often linked to lower sociolinguistic groups.

Question to the moderators of #corpusMOOC: when using LancsBox, is there a way to tell the software to not consider XML or TEI mark up in the word calculation? Basically, can we hide the mark-up in LancsBox? If not, what are the alternatives? Thanks in advance!
