Good morning from the village of Mt. Gilead. I am sitting in the huge blue leather chair. A 50 dollar goodwill thrift store find. In the second floor kitchen of the 126 year old Crabtree House Art Studio and flower gardens.

A great feature left over from the 1970's oil boom in the village. They subdivided the old house for 3 families. I found 2 things when we bought this old gem.

One. She had an upstairs kitchen in addition to a downstairs kitchen. Two. All the original 116 year old oak panel doors were in the attic. In great shape with original orange shellac finish.
I combined them.

I rebuilt the original layout from 1899. Once the carpet was removed I could see the layout on the floor. I built a partition wall from my bedroom to the kitchen. Then I installed the 7' 6", 6 panel oak parlor doors. I installed another oak entrance door into the kitchen.

Sitting here in the blue lounge chair beside the 126 year old double hung window. The kind with lead weights in the wall that rumble when you open them. Behind the Aluminum storm window that a well off previous owner had installed in the 1940's.

The snow in the village quiets and sharpens things. The birds in the overhangs, and a distant dogs barking sound more crisp. Life seems more muffled as I rest my 60 year old back. Demolition that was quiet and easy as a 20 year old. Has become sharpened with 40 years of such experiences.

I was gonna demolish this kitchen when I moved in. The old gal has taught me. Those that lived before may have known better. I added a washer and dryer. I removed the old 1970's yellowed clear shields over the kitchen space. I hate to say it. It has turned out perfect for me needs.

I never thought I would create art again after my 1990's period of moderate success. As I have jumped in. This overlit, laundry, kitchen, studio with a bar countertop has proven just superb. I sit her in my chair by the window.

On this extension of my brain. Almost an appendage. This cell phone. I consid…

I so enjoy in this contentious world 🌎, the hope that art brings. It reaches across all geographic boundaries and speaks to the heart. I know this is rather long. Thanks for giving me leash to wander outside the fence, beside the creative river. I am enclosing a simple dialog of 3 followers of my work speaking to the 🐔 chicken coup. Lol.

As follows:

The heavy textural brush strokes of Van Gogh s works are flattened. These works. With little value were stacked against one another behind the bathroom door of his relative.

His pieces were found across Europe. One was being used to patch a hole in a chicken coop.

I can relate. :)

I need to frame and properly store these this year.

Yours,
Robert

On this extension of my brain. Almost an appendage. This cell phone. I consider the world to be my art gallery. Every visitor who likes the work in art groups I personally think with a form note. Today was good. Lots of cool notes of encouragement from Armenia 🇦🇲, to Osaka Japan 🇯🇵 to Paris.

Molly the girl cat 🐈 is just awesome. She jumps up onto the bar in my upstairs kitchen studio, off my bedroom. Every now in then she helps finish a painting by accident. The paint on her tail. Makes me smile. :)

The beauty of the village.
The cat purrs on the bed beside me.

Out beyond the 126 year old double hung wood window with lead weights in the wall.
Under the 6 story snow covered maple tree.
In front of the 125 year old Crabtree House Art Studio and flower gardens in this winter season.
The plow sings its lonesome song; plowing the way for villagers safe travels.

Shawn the alcoholic has woke up next door.
No doubt hungover. Or still drunk from the night before.
His small dog yaps next door begging entry from winters artic air.

Alas so it is in the village of Mt. Gilead.
The yapping replaced with the pinging of freezing rain or snow.
Pecking at the aluminum screened storm windows sold in the 1950s to some long ago owner.

Built a mere 6' from the front roadway.
I believe I could almost reach out and knock the cap off the snow plow operator as goes on by.

The difference between serenity and chaos, perspective.
God I am so very grateful for this, a Saturday's winter morn.

Yours,
Robert

Molly the cat is lonely. I hear her cry in the master bedroom kitchen beside me. A hole in the wall allows her to visit. She climbs me hip, purring, begging for attention. Pet the 🐈 cat. Grateful. Time for bagels 🥯 and coffee ☕.

I love painting with flowers in my gardens at the 125 year old Crabtree House Art Studio and flower gardens.

A slate roof, terraced gardens and the double hung windows with lead weights in the walls.

Have you ever visited or lived in such a place?
