New this year we are including confidence rasters. These maps are based on our processing regions and show confidence levels (0-100) per class in those areas.
We hope this extra detail will be of value.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to improve the 2025 Crop Inventory map for you, which is partially why we are running late on the distribution of it this year.

Here’s a sneak peak at what changes/improvements to expect.

Back in southern Ontario for a 3-day trip to gather examples of double cropping.

After our trips here in June/July we are revisiting fields that had winter crop varieties & seeing what is there now.

Today we were driving in the Woodstock/Brantford/ Kitchener area. #cropmap25 #ontag #cdnag

A map of Canada with dots in certain provinces (BC, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland), plus the Yukon Territory. These represent observations on agricultural crop types collected by AAFC workers this summer.

In northwestern Ontario, there is some colourful lines that show the route the AAFC team will be traveling this week (each colour represents a day of travel). A large orange arrow points to this area to bring attention to it.

There are red polygons over Quebec and the Prairie provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba). AAFC personnel typically do not collect data in these areas as we have crop information provided to use by provincial crop insurance agencies.

For the last 2 months, AAFC teams have been collecting observations in Canada to use in #cropmap25.

This week we finish with a trip to northwest Ontario. Our team will visit Thunder Bay, Rainy River, Dryden & all points in between, recording what's growing in this part of #ontag.

The path less travelled really paid off today.
Came across 30-40 horses. No visible markings on them so perhaps they are wild/feral?
The group in the middle is protecting a young foal. It took a while to get around them. #cropmap25

These back roads can be full of surprises.
I came around the bend & accidentally started a cattle drive! 😜
We eventually squeezed by without incident. #cropmap25 #BCag #westcdnag #cdnag

On narrow gravel roads overlooking the Fraser River. Dr. Emily documents what is native grassland and what is rangeland. Her research will help the Annual Crop Inventory better distinguish these differences in the future. #teamup

Finishing the day near Witset, when I spotted this white horse in a field.

I think I will title this photo either:
- One is the loneliest number

Or

- Hey that horse looks like Donkey when he gets turned in to stallion in the movie Shrek.
