Effective immediately and until further notice, the Polar Geospatial Center will no longer be accepting new requests for data, products, or services to support NSF awards or contracts. Due to the lack of ongoing NSF renewal funding, the PGC is wrapping up the current in-progress work and requests to accommodate the end of staff positions and available funds. Should funding resume in the future, information will be provided to communicate when and at what level services will be continued. Just heard on #Cryolist that the Polar Geospatial center at U. of Minnesota is losing their funding. These guys have a huge range of data products including super high resolution digital elevation models of both Arctic and Antarctica.

This is just naked vandalism.

The only people to speak against the @UWGlacier affirmative action job post on #cryolist were two senior white men in positions of leadership. Two early(ish) career white men spoke up in support, but not one senior white man did. Our community needs their engagement and support.

Here's the thing about this "it is not all white men" take on #cryolist. There's a power structure in glaciology where most big names and leaders are senior white men. New people joining the field don't see people who look or identify with them in these roles; many of them leave.
