Yoru’s mention of the nightjar she possessed is likely a reference to the short story “The Nighthawk Star” by Kenji Miyazawa. The nightjar in this story also experiences existential guilt over its actions. Fujimoto mentioned this work in the past and found the story quite sad.

Yoru blames her inability to understand guilt on her nature as a Devil but fails to realize that it's actually because she's only ever looked at it through the lens of being able to create stronger weapons. Of course she'll never understand it if that's her motive. #csm229

Yoru (the girl who has her face covered by her hair) looking down at Denji (the guy in metallic armor and intestines around his neck, also without a lower body) who just laid there as Yoru starts to admonish him. Yoru: Why did you feed me blood, Denji? Did you want to get turned into a weapon? Or do you want to screw up the world together? Denji stays silent for a bit before saying: I suddenly remembered somethin'.
Denji looking up at Yoru with white eyes and sharp teeth as he explains his reason. Denji: You promised you'd have sex with if I ate some dangerous devil! And I'm pretty sure I ate that dangerous devil! Didn't I? Yoru pulls back as Denji stares at her before leaning back in.
Yoru then starts laughing on top of Denji's body as part of a building slides down, threatening to crush them both. "To be continued."

Seeing Yoru talk about all the things she's experienced and how shes grown from them really makes you feel like she's not doing this because she wants to. It's just her nature. I absolutely love Yoru in this chapter.

#CSM229 This was a pretty good read. Yoru finally admitting her truth about her loneliness and was the main reason why she allowed Asa to have some control over her body and conscience to exist.
Also surface joke aside. I think it was nice of Denji to give Yoru his blood. Pretty much

#csm229 Think Part 2's (prob not soon) climax will be on if Asa chooses to live selfishly, and what that means. The story has been full of people choosing to live at the expense of others. Not always condemning what is an inevitability, though being aware how it can cross a line into needless pain.

This is a callback. Bucky wanted to give Asa a chance at a social life even though she was completely isolated. Now Denji wants to give Yoru another chance (I think???) despite all her actions. #csm229
