Low tide & an ochre sea star, or Pisaster ochraceus, is a common sea star found along the Pacific coast, known for its five stout arms and vibrant colors, which can range from purple to orange. It plays a crucial role as a keystone species in the intertidal ecosystem, primarily preying on mussels and helping to maintain biodiversity in its habitat. It’s not so common anymore due to sea Star wasting disease.
