Fake or fact? The Leidenfrost effect prevents the droplet from touching the surface, so it doesn’t heat up.
Answer: FALSE (partly). The vapor layer separating the droplet from the surface strongly limits direct heat transfer. This slows the heating down, but does not suppress it: heat is still transferred through the vapor layer and by internal fluid motion. As a result, the droplet eventually evaporates — much more slowly than with direct contact.
