It was probably black originally--repainted baby blue. The tolex was removed and replaced with a modern-day equivalent. Silvertone-Danelectro U1/1317 - single pickup white/bronze/black electric guitar. This is a Silvertone electric guitar made by Danelectro of Neptune New Jersey in 1957. The body color is ivory. It's serial number is 5xx7. It has one single-coil lipstick pickup (which is split on one side.) The neck is straight and all the electronics work correctly. The neck feels like a standard Danelectro width but just slightly smaller. Everything appears to be original except the knobs. They are Harmony "cupcake" knobs from the 1950s/early 1960s. The body is the smaller U1 "peanut" size. Check out the "leatherette" binding, crazy! So it can either be a project or just a nice little guitar to jam on. Could be a hot punk rock guitar! The interesting thing is the finish is ivory, as seen on the back, but underneath that is a bronze finish. The front even has black paint under the white but that could be primer, possibly. Danelectro would often recycle body parts. So it's entirely possible the ivory is the original factory finish done over a copper or black body. This is a 1967 Silvertone made by Danelectro's Coral division. This is the higher-end two pick up amp-in-case model. It's the one of the last Danelectro's made for Sears. The guitar has two lipstick pickups. This model came with an amp-in-case but is NOT included. This guitar is in excellent condition for it's age. There are a few nicks and the finish is cracking in places but that only adds to it's character. All the electronics work properly and it ROCKS! This is a double cutaway, solid body Silvertone guitar made by Danelectro of Neptune, New Jersey circa 1965. It features a red-sunburst finish, a tortoise shell pickguard on which the electronics are mounted, a two-way adjustable metal tremolo bridge with a rosewood saddle. There are two single-coil lipstick tube pickups and four black plastic knobs with silver tops to control the tone and volume for each pickup along with a pickup selector switch. On the upper bout and rear are two metal strap pins. There's a circular metal plate on the back that gives access to the spring for the whammy bar. This is the higher-end two pick-up model that usually comes with an amp-in-case. But, this is the earlier version of the guitar and was sold without the amp-in-case (model 1452.) This guitar the much more rare version as indicated by the tortoise-shell pick guard and no chrome-plated pickup rings. The amp-in-case models have white pick guards. This guitar has all the great features of the Danelectro Coral Firefly line: genuine Brazilian rosewood fretboard; exclusive slim, never-warp neck reinforced by dual steel beams that never need adjustment with a simple string action adjustment at neck socket for easy selective action. This is a double cutaway Silvertone made by Danelectro of Neptune, NJ made in February of 1964. The guitar features two single coil lipstick tube style pickups, a solid-center Masonite over pine body, a white Masonite pickguard on which the controls are mounted, a four-way adjustable chromed brass bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle, white tolex binding, two aluminum strap pins and a redburst finish with sparkling silver colored accents. This guitar is 100% original and in good condition. With its fantastic fast action and terrific tone, this guitar plays like a dream. Although this instrument already looks lovely, a previous owner, perhaps a resident of the Haight, chose to further decorate it with Grateful Dead stickers. We chose to leave this personal touch intact as it represents part of its long history. This is a Silvertone 1375 made by Danelectro of Neptune, New Jersey. It features a solid hardwood, poplar body covered by maroon, artificial leather with contrasting white head plate and guard plate on which all of the electronics are mounted, one single coil pickup actually concealed under the pickguard, a single cutaway, and a four way adjustable unplated aluminum bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle. The 1375 has an aluminum truss rod that extends from the nut all the way through to the bridge and it can be seen on the surface of the guitar down the middle of the back of the neck and on the front center of the body. This guitar is very clean, in good condition, and all original except for an added input jack reinforcement. It is a very early and rare model that still looks lovely after approximately 70 years of existence. With its fast action and terrific tone, this guitar plays like a dream. Silvertone 1375 (early U1 series) made by Danelectro of Neptune New Jersey in either 1954 or 1955. The pots date to 1954. It's a solid body guitar with an aluminum bar that runs from the neck through body. It has a red tolex covering on the body and a white headstock with red Lightning Bolt Silvertone logo on the headstock. It has one pickup, one volume, one tone control and a toggle switch to change the tone. The white plastic pickguard that has the electronics on it including the pickup has a few chips. (See photos). The pickup is strong and sounds great. The volume control works correctly. But, the tone control does not work. Also, it's a bit scratchy sounding. So some small electronics work will need to be done. That's reflected in the Buy It Now price. Otherwise it's very clean but does show some wear around the body edges, a cigarette burn on the headstock, and the paint is worn off on the neck from 70 years of playing. Photos tell the story. This is a Double Cutaway (DC59) 1959 Reissue Original Factory Spec/3021 reissue, six string electric guitar made by Danelectro in 2011 in a hand-painted psychedelic multi-colored finish. Aside from the fretboard, the entire guitar has the hand-painted psychedelic multi-colored finish including the “seal” pickguard. The guitar is an homage to Eric Clapton’s hand-painted Danelectro 3021 used during his Blind Faith period. This is a limited edition of 200 guitars and each guitar has a unique paint job. It is a double cutaway, masonite top and bottom with a plywood frame. This DC59 /3021 reissue is basically new-old-stock (NOS). But, this model has been updated and made fully playable by the author of the Danelectro book: “Neptune Bound.” The author felt the guitar wasn’t playable as released. So he removed the paint from the fretboard and frets and replaced the stock bridge with a better quality chrome-plated one. So the guitar is fully playable and not a wall-hanger. The pickups and electronics are simplified to one tone, one volume control with a three-way toggle switch to choose between neck, bridge or both pickups. In the middle position the pickups are louder and act like humbuckers. This model was a limited run and has unique pickups and tone. They’re strong and bright single coils with a matt finish. And, these single-coils are considerably more clean sounding than most. The classic Danelectro-style bridge is adjustable for height and intonation. It comes with the original Danelectro gig bag, warranty card, and wrench to adjust the neck (the adjustment must be under the nut or in the neck-pocket since it’s not visible on the body.) This is a Danelectro ’56 Single Cutaway Guitar/U2 reissue, six string electric guitar made by Danelectro in China in 2011. It’s just beautiful looking with a white finish along with all gold-plated hardware and original hard shell case (ohsc). The pickguard is clear plastic with a gold line and “D” and does have playing wear. It is a single cutaway, masonite top and bottom with a plywood frame. This Danelectro ’56/U2 reissue is very clean but does have nominal playing wear. The white finish is a nice looking and it does have white tolex binding. The one flaw is the red lining of the case has bled onto the back and portions of the tolex on the side. The pickups and electronics are clean sounding with stacked tone & volume controls for each pickup. There’s a three-way toggle switch to choose between neck, bridge or both pickups. This model was a very limited run and has unique pickups and tone. They’re very strong sounding single coils but in the middle position act like humbuckers with a more unique, clean tone. This is a Wild Thing reissue, six string electric guitar made by Danelectro in China in 2011 with a black, high-gloss finish and white Tolex binding. This guitar is 100% original and is basically new-old stock. This is a rare, limited edition guitar. It is a double cutaway, masonite top and bottom with a plywood frame. The original version of the Wild Thing was a one-off and never in production at Danelectro. The pickups and electronics are the classic Danelectro style with stacked tone and volume controls for each pickup with a three-way toggle switch to choose between neck, bridge or both pickups. In the middle position the pickups are louder and act like humbuckers. This model was a limited run and has unique pickups and tone. They’re strong and bright single coils with a chrome finish. And, these single-coils are considerably more clean sounding than most. The classic Danelectro-style bridge is adjustable for height and intonation. It comes with the original Danelectro gig bag, warranty card, hang tag, original brochure, and wrench to adjust the neck (the adjustment must be under the nut or in the neck-pocket since it’s not visible on the body.) This is a DC59 Limited Edition/3021 reissue, six string electric guitar made by Danelectro in China 2010 in a black finish. The “seal” pickguard is white and has an aged finish. It is a double cutaway, masonite top and bottom with a plywood frame. This DC59 Limited Edition/3021 reissue is basically new-old-stock (NOS). You even get to remove the plastic on the cavity cover! The matt black finish is a sharp looking with white tolex binding. Overall, Danelectro issued this model with an aged finish that’s apparent in the body color, pick guard, pickups, and tuners. The pickups and electronics are simplified to one tone, one volume control with a three-way toggle switch to choose between neck, bridge or both pickups. This model was a limited run and has unique pickups and tone. They’re strong and bright single coils with a matt finish. And, these single-coils are considerably more clean sounding than most.
