Oh, and the picture of the Airbus 321 at the beginning of this thread is not really accurate.
The true picture would need a bigger plane, and that should be something we should all find shocking.
@RCollEM has submitted all this and more to the #Darzireview
My article for @theconversationuk.bsky.social about the #DarziReview of the #NHS and the pitfalls that the government needs to avoid as it embarks on NHS reforms:

If you haven't read #darzireview then do read the summary. In particular section 13 speaks truth to the lack of investment in community, primary care & mental health - something I've been saying for what seems like forever #workforce #rebalance www.gov.uk/government/p...
Excellent short commentary on the #DarziReview by @profjudithsmith.bsky.social, with 3 pitfalls to avoid -
🔹don’t drive everything from the centre
🔹don’t under-invest in management capacity
🔹avoid further structural ‘re-disorganisation’.
My new piece for #TheConversation about the #DarziReview of the #NHS and the pitfalls that the government needs to avoid as it embarks on NHS reforms:

A small but important para in yesterday's #DarziReview about #socialmedia and worsening mental health outcomes. If the Government is going to take a prevention-focused approach to delivering its #NHS Mission, #DSIT, its sponsorship of the tech sector and its #OnlineSafetyAct oversight will be key.
@gerisoc.bsky.social response to Darzi review. There is nothing in #DarziReview that is a surprise - the problems in NHS England have been known for some time. However, the solutions are also known, as outlined in the report from our roundtable on older people's care. www.bgs.org.uk/policy-and-m...
If you're covering the #DarziReview today #journalism #medicaljournalism I am happy to talk further about the uphill road the government now face to address the problems in the review. Get in touch.
My take home from the #DarziReview is that #healthcare needs more funding, but neglecting #socialcare will mean all future plans will fail. Both need massive infusion of cash to address the avalanche of #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth that have created the poor health of our nation.
As Downing Street responds to the #DarziReview some thoughts on why the devil is in the detail to achieve the "big shifts", a thread:
1. An analogue to digital shift is more than digitizing records and NHS apps. Digital infrastructure is lacking and lagging in the NHS.

Almost half of primary care providers are running foodbanks... It was the choice of successive governments to exclude primary care, mental health and community services waiting times from NHS constitutional standards

The state of the NHS is not due entirely to what has happened within the health service. The health of the nation has deteriorated and that impacts its performance.

#DarziReview: England spent £40bn less on health assets than peer nations, report to say
Lack of capital expenditure since 2010s has stunted #NHS modernisation and worsened backlogs but review ignores #Brexit, despite struggling to recruit staff since the UK left the EU
