Scottish style spindle (dealgan) on top of a cloud of fibres. The spindle is a heavy looking turned stick, wider at the bottom with a cross carved into the base to take the thread while spinning. The top tapers and has a little bulb at the end (under which you tie a half hitch knot in the spun yarn when in use). On the fat part of the spindle is wound some singles yarn in various shades of pink and purple, and the fibres behind it are many shades of pink, purple, yellow and blue.
#Spinning #recycled sari silk on a #dealgan.
I’m really enjoying this, I think the dealgan may be my favourite spindle type so far and the sari silk is an adventure. I like having to make the choices about colour to avoid it all blending too much.
