A close-up of the beach surface at Knokke. The sand is moist and partly has formed clumps. Between the sand grains there are larger seashell fragments and numerous empty seashells. Other debris like dead leaves is also visible. The focus of the image is on a crumpled piece of wet, sky-blue fabric that might have been washed ashore with the tide.

View on a wooden access ramp build of white-painted wood. It leads to one of the Beach club style separated parts of Knokke beach. In the far background you can the waterline. As the season hasn't begun yet it is empty of people but preparatory works have begun. Over the entrance is a massive, lacquered wooden sign reading "EACH NUMBER ONE - Welcome". Originally it spelt "BEACH NUMBER 1", but obviously somebody nicked the "B".

The waterline at the beach of Knokke with rising water. The photo was taken litterally with the camera in the sand, so the perspective is very low and the foreground is out of focus. The sand here is very coarse and you can clearly distinguish four areas (from right to left): the water, the sand that just got wet, the sand that is somewhat moist and the dry sand. In the background the "skyline" of Knokke is visible as well as a child in a pinkish coat collecting seashells seen from behind that ran into the shot from offscreen. Unplanned, but adds a certain jenesaispasquoi.
