It was great to finally meet you after many years of #DerbyTwitter and then a couple more of #DerbyBlueSky (is that even a thing or is it still the old name)!

I didn't mean to fly all the way to Japan for a #DerbyTwitter meetup but sometimes weird things happen and you end up in a Tokyo whiskey bar with Minnesotans down the road from the Godzilla hotel where you're both coincidentally staying.

I feel like #DerbyTwitter really needs to see how this thread is panning out.

And lest I be accused of being too online, resurrecting both #yyjpoli AND #derbytwitter as real world communities has also been quite heartening.

Thinking back to when #DerbyTwitter caught wind of a skater deciding to make NFTs out of the likenesses of skaters to “help leagues” and we all had NONE OF IT. And when the creator was interviewed for some piece about her failed project, it was because we weren’t knowledgeable enough about them.
