GBBO staff behind a bar, pouring beer for the birds!

In August, GBBO staff took over the bar for a night at Reno's Hideout Lounge, to pour beers for the birds! Thank you to everyone who came out to support #DesertThrasher research, and special thanks to Rob at the Hideout for collaborating with us (& for the on-the-fly training)!

LeConte's Thrasher nest.

LeConte’s Thrashers build their nests of sturdy sticks & place them in thick, often pointy vegetation such as this cholla. They line the nest with soft white fluff, & when they are just getting ready to lay their eggs, they decorate the rim with fresh yellow flowers.

The Bendire’s Thrasher is more widespread, found in deserts and arid woodlands from southern Nevada and Utah to southern Sonora in Mexico. It was long believed to be conspecific with the more common and very similar Curve-billed Thrasher.
