One of the big textdumps in my #DiscRoom doc is a convoluted crossover with #CarrionGame ... which I'm not sure is worth the effort to make into either a comic or illustrated story

Yellow scientist/Mari with back to a wall, while a Side Winder barely inches past her face. The posing and composition is loosely based on the scene in Alien 3, where the Runner spares Ripley. Also lightly based on a likely scrapped idea I had somewhere between the "disc whisperer" comment, possession of the Parasite, and being 'chosen' by the Disc; where, in the event she were to release the Parasite or another Absorbed disc some time after leaving the Disc, it would selectively spare her (while being an indiscriminate threat to everything and everyone else).
Both a reference, and what it feels like to barely dodge some of these jerks by hugging the walls.

Where I first noticed you could really visualize how forgiving the hurtbox is. Getting this close will cause the character to shudder a lot and the music gets slower and slower the closer you get to the disc until you die. It's a very interesting aesthetic decision.
From the back, the disc brushes right up against the red backpack. Any closer results in death.
Approaching from below seems to have the most forgiving hitbox, weirdly, where it even overlaps the backpack a little. Funny that the discs still layer over the character at this angle.
This is the closest you can get from above, which basically is just the character's legs and nothing else, making it the least forgiving part of the hurtbox, at least against this particular disc. I'm sure other discs have way less forgiving hitboxes (cough cough Carnivorous Gatekeeper), but it's harder to test since they move/track.
The hit/hurtboxes in this game are wild, but it would have been funnier if the backpack was actually the definitive hurtbox here, but this is still a neat thing to visualize.

It comes and goes with mood/other triggers) - A violent aversion to the sight of red meat after having seen herself and Purple/Amy being butchered... while also fighting with the disc component's craving for blood and death. - Kitties!!!!! - Mari temporarily possessed by The Disc - the total entity itself, not just a component - with eyes glazed over with the gold of the orbs, and asking some unintelligible non-language questions about how humans' first attempted to communicate with it

Reusing some concepts from earlier sketches of Yellow/Mari, plus adding some additional stuff, like cats (!). Also playing with the idea of there being something of a conduit relationship with the Disc in mind, hence a weird 'possessed' state.
Also reusing things for Purple/Amy, but this time straight up fully reusing an entire sketch because I liked it. This is largely playing with the idea that they were never even a scientist in the first place, but a military engineer/technician sent masquerading as a scientist in order to deliver the payload.
Starting to get sketches done for the #DiscRoom headcanon dump I wanna do on Tumblr.
I was originally going to try to include the text on the images themselves, but the .doc file got too long-winded for that, so I'll just wall-of-text it on the post with these for illustration when it's ready.
Same as the previous image, though a few discs have been shifted around for compositional balance. The mirror is more pronounced, and all the discs have been redone with templates using radial symmetry tools and perspective skewing for consistency.

Yellow/Mari floating, pierced through with five of the six Ability-granting discs, each imparting an aura and hint of their ability; Dasher in the leg with a blue aura, Slower in the head with a green aura, Replicator in the shoulder with a pink aura (and a growing clone), Ghost in the chest with a red aura, and Phase Disc in the left arm with a yellow aura. The final disc - the Golden Mirror - forms the backdrop, and Mari's reflection in it is that of her 'human' appearance, looking at her hands as if lamenting no longer being fully human by the end of this ordeal.

May work on it more later, whether it be refining what's here, or redoing the composition entirely, but currently dead tired from work

Yellow scientist/'Mari' observes a Replicator from the previous room. Her internal monologue says "That disc replicates exponentially upon entering the room... Perhaps... if I were to absorb it... ...it would give me time to breathe until the room spawns another..."
She lunges into the room, hand outstretched, outlined in a reddish glow as the disc launches towards her. "Only one way to test that hypothesis..." She thinks as she concentrates, Absorbing the disc into herself.
There is a pause of uncertainty as the Absorption takes in its usual, painful way... but soon it abates, and she takes on a more confident demeanor, "I'm a genius!"
The confidence doesn't last for long, as two Replicators burst from her chest quite violently. Turns out it wasn't such a good idea after all. I was streaming this to Dani, and had this train of thought. I couldnβt stop laughing when this happened... itβs so dark narratively, but in the context of gameplay mechanics itβs comedic timing gold.
The <s>devs</s> Disk thought of everything.

Now I just need to get more consistent.
Some angst I drew while still not fully out of the first pic. One references the Ghost quote ("The disc has become a part of me. The hurricane of pains that come with containing it inside myself means nothing"), while the other is the wake-up call for Amy, seeing Mari die gruesomely for the first time and having the sudden and horrified realization that not only is she about to experience the same, repeated fate... but also how much Mari suffered trying to find and save her...
Trying some spacesuit designs with non-tapered lines. One shot of trying to do a more in-game approach, while the others cross my design with the launch trailer a bit more, but still not quite hitting the mark.
Attempted casual scientists, drawn at work on my lunch break. I do imagine the two as a bit heavier-set than other fanartists do (save Green, who had a pretty thicc purple which was more or less the inspiration). Still not quite sure I'm where I want my style to be, but moving in a direction at least.

Dani adopted the test names Mari (for Marigold) and Amy (for Amethyst), which is enough of an excuse for me to adopt them as well.
Me stuck at 19 'seconds' on Lobotomy, standing on top of the Ravenous Antibody.
Found out on 'accident' that you can stand on the center of a living Antibody safely if you Dash into it, as only the Carcass ring has a hitbox... though you get stuck in the slow shudder state and can still be hit by things, so it's not too useful. Implications are interesting though. :S #DiscRoom
MAN I've dug myself a hole to #DiscRoom headcanon hell, and the only thing keeping me from drawing little sheets for them is not having names for the two scientists.
Currently divided between either Amber or Marigold/Mari for yellow scientist/protag, and Amethyst/Amy or Violet for purple scientist.
Not sure if this is the art direction I want but it'll do for now. I tried to use a line brush with no taper to meet the official style in the middle with my cel-shading and highlights, but I'm not sure I like it. Test collage includes: A naturally generic one to start off with sort of understanding how to conceptualize the unusual proportions. A quiet one, pondering the Star Map and taking a moment to rest in its non-aggressive presence, but also steeling for the inevitable sacrifice to escape the room. Obligatory off-duty feels between both scientists, as their vessel pulls away from Jupiter and the disc and yellow finally has time to breathe and come to grips with what the hell just happened. An action shot of yellow pushing purple away from some discs using Dash, with the pushing hand leaving the Dash state so as to not phase through.
Pardon me, Iβve just fallen (back) in love with Disc Room
