Still, worldbuilding, vibes/aesthetics and straight up charm make up for a lot of Mutation’s faults. And I do think there’s something fun about just turning off my brain while going through one of these dungeons room by room.

I seem overly critical, but I do think some of the “fresh” novelty from the first game isn't here to cover up the same problems the games had in Infection.

Along with the combat being rough inventory and party equipment management is aggressively clunky and stressful. Dungeon structure and gameplay loop is fun but simple/predictable. On top of that, Mutation doesn’t make any significant changes to gameplay from the first game.

Watched .hack//SIGN during the weekend and it became my most favourite anime to watch as a .hack Fan who played G.U. last recode, and read the manga of IMOQ years ago.
