Essentially, Work = Force x distance, so to decrease the force needed, increase the distance traveled by the rope over the pulleys. FYI soap was used to reduce friction & Archimedes may not have invented the pulley but he vastly improved it with compound systems of wheels and ropes #DrStone 1.6.15

Knowing the average full-grown tree is ~1 ton (1,000kg), Senku does some quick calculations. He weighs 60kg, or about 132 pounds, and needs to lift 500kg. He opts for some makeshift pulleys. A single one won’t help, but each pulley reduces the force needed by half, so he makes three! #DrStone 1.6.14

Oddly, this episode saves the practical science for the end credits! Kohaku, a descendant of modern humans who lives in the Stone World, is trapped under a tree. Slight Senku must use his science skills if he has any hope of saving her. #DrStone 1.6.13

Nitric acid alone isn’t the solution. Ironically, it’s Senku’s brain power that was missing from the equation. He says the brain consumes 400 kcal/day during waking hours. Under deep anaesthesia, it’s closer to 6 kcal/hour, and a brain that’s asleep all day burns 240 kcals. #DrStone 1.6.8
