Seeing a wild predator running straight towards you can be terrifying. Luckily for AW’s Les Mundy, the two predators in this clip are sandhill dunnarts – only 40-50g. The third animal in this clip is a Mitchell’s hopping mouse, which also seemed to home in on Les.

Years ago a couple of our #dunnarts got #trichobezoars (hairballs) so preventative protocols were developed. 2000+ animals later, we haven't seen any more hairballs, so I helped #veterinarians publish this result, highlighting our commitment to our animals' health and #welfare 🙏

Fresh #research paper out today! Long-term impacts of #captivity on #skull #morphology and #endocranial volume in fat-tailed #dunnarts 💀🐭
Captive skulls = significantly shorter basal + upper molar lengths, broader zygomatic widths and longer palate and toothrow lengths, compared with wild dunnarts.
