Tavitha doesn't bother. It's not anyone's business why they don't remember or what they don't remember. all they know is that is pisses them off that they have lost so much of their past.

#durgeqotd How does your Durge explain the gaps in their memory to others?

Lu will just say they don't remember right now, and it will come back all in due time. And oddly, it does. #lucifael

Xandros doesn't; if he can't remember his past, then it's unimportant. #xandros

The memory gaps are not so much frightening as they are agonizing. Something like "blissful ignorance" doesn't exist to Ayumu, the unanswered questions about her past before and under Bhaal only haunt her. Ayumu would rather suffer due to terrible truths than due to uncertainty.

What's the worst thing your Durge has done that they actually remember? And what's worse: the act, or how it felt?

Honestly, Lyria would be probably be dead. The city she was born in was destroyed when she was 9, and she had to fight to survive in the unforgiving Underdark. For all she hates the Urge, the murderous rage that took advantage of the situation helped keep her alive.

Tav-alternate?

Darius—then never taking up his new name and keeping Serendipity—would've stayed with his dads until late teens, when the storm in his veins would get too much for them to handle.
He'd seek out the ocean and become a storm sorcerer apprentice on a trading ship.

Definitely the things she doesn't remember - the things she does remember are terrible enough, and she fought the Urge for over a 100 years. Sometimes flashes of memories surface, and render her terrified and disgusted, or screaming in mental pain.

It's what she remembers that bothers her.
If she doesn't remember, then it didn't happen, hehe. Sometimes ignorance is better than discovering something creepy about yourself.

Some memories are hard for Yara.

#durgeqotd Dirge may have ended up dying during childhood, and certainly would not have survived his first death without the urge's divine intervention.

If by some other miracle he had, he'd still end up deserting the House of Flowers, just less violently; a lone avenger surviving the feydark.

If the urge had never truly awoken in Iris, they would still be trapped in Cania. That raw bloodlust gave them the strength to fight back against the devil Cruciatus and his cruel ministrations over their body.

#Durgeqotd No Urges

If Eliza never had her urges, she'd be still living with her adopted family and would assist her mother with teaching children how to play music. She would also help her father during the market days with his stall.

Her life a small city girl would be perfect.

#DurgeQOTD Dark Urge never happened

Assuming #LiorSeastar had somehow been raised by his father instead of his Bhaalist mother, he would have been raised in Baldur’s Gate alongside his siblings Cerenna and Mersial.

Ironically, he would have been the sensible one of the three, constantly bailing—

#durgeqotd redemption

#lucifael
Lu doesn't think they're redeemed; they just don't have the god of murder in their ear anymore. Now, all of Lu's choices are their own; they can live and love freely and without worry. They pay no mind to their growth.

But Gale sees the changes and is proud.

Maybe... as a child, before Bhaal took over her mind at the age of 6 and forced her to kill her foster family.
Before that, Yara was an ordinary child, playing with other children and a sincere girl.

#tavqotd #durgeqotd Hauntings

Callyope feels more haunted by what she remembers. The memories of carnage and suffering keep her up and night if she doesn't have a distraction. She can't feel haunted by what she doesn't know. What she knows is more than enough to revolt her.

#tavqotd #durgeqotd Sensation of the Urge

Always nausea, always a distinct churning in her gut and a viscous swirl of a pounding headache. When Callyope feels the Urge she always feels sick, and feels sicker the more she tries to resist it. She killed simply to make the sickness stop.

#tavqotd #durgeqotd first thought

Sand. Callyope perceived the grittiness of sand, and a distinct emptiness atop her head. Her hat was by the bank of the river, and her violin was clutched in her hand. She had no thought of the Urge, only the symbols of the identity she cultivated for herself.

What is atonement and what is it eaten with?

Yara doesn't particularly feel sorry for anyone. She refuses Bhaal, wanting to be the master in her head.
Blood, murders, guts. Only for the sake of Astarion. :) She lives here and now.

She honestly says that she has lost her memory and her head hurts periodically.
But with Astarion, she is more sincere and tells everything that she can somehow remember, as well as her murderous urges.

Xandros wouldn't be in Baldur's Gate; he'd probably still be in the wilds between Thay and Rashemen. He'd be a ranger rather than a paladin. Adrik would be alive. #adrik #xandros

To someone who doesn't know him and his bloodied past, Darius will blame an accident that caused a mild braindamage.

But to someone he wishes to be close to, he lets them know practically out the gate—giving them a chance to change their minds about getting closer to *him*.

I'll let #ElegysOC answer that one herself...
"Both? Waking up from a nightmare with only vague pictures of blood is just as terrifying than remembering what Kressa did to me," she frowns. "But I suppose the blind spots are worse? What if they come back to haunt me one day?"

She likes to think she deserves a second chance? After all, Bhaal's Dark Urge was rampaging in her mind.

Still... she sometimes doesn't quite believe she can ever make up for what she's done.

#ElegysOC has seizures from the brain trauma that was inflicted on her, so that's always a neat excuse for some of her memory gaps...

I’m curious! If the urge had never awakened for your Durge, what type of life would they have led?
Where would they be during the events of the game?

#durgeqotd #tavqotd Do you think redemption is possible for your Durge, or is that something only people with clean hands get to believe in?

Once again, I refuse to to trade in Christian Bullshit. Echo can find redemption by putting in work— every day, again and again, little by little
