Eades – “Outside Nothing” In a couple weeks, Leeds’ Eades are releasing their sophomore album _Final Sirens Call_. We’ve already gotten a preview of the forthcoming project with the singles “Did You Read The News” and “Backwards.” They have one more song to offer us, titled “Outside Nothing,” before we get to here the album in full.

Leeds indie band Eades have the balls to go through various moods on their new single Outside Nothing. It starts out as a pretty straightforward post-punk song before feering into post-rock leading up to a whispering coda.

Eades – “Backwards” The drums draw you in immediately. “Backwards,” the latest single from Leeds band Eades’ new album _Final Sirens Call_, begins with a skittering backbeat that keeps the song feeling brisk and lively all throughout its four minutes. It becomes the foundation for a very British sort of pop-rock song that feels like a modern spin on that post-Britpop, post-_OK Computer_ class of bands circa Y2K — your Doves, Travis, Coldplay lot — but maybe there’s some actual Britpop in there too? Either way, though I wouldn’t describe it as retro, there’s a classic quality to it, especially when that jaunty piano enters into the dreamy finale. “Standing on ice/ Bending over backwards/ I’m somebody else/ Every night/ Waiting on my last words,” Tom O’Reilly sings on the chorus.

Eades Announce New Album Final Sirens Call: Hear “Did You Read The News?” “Did You Read The News?”: What a stressful song title. That’s the sort of question I hate to hear. It’s never followed by _good_ news. Nobody’s ever like, “Did you read the news? It’s nothing but sunny weather ahead!” It’s always some fucked up shit. That’s the name of the song that Leeds post-punkers Eades used to introduce their sophomore LP _Final Sirens Call_ , so maybe this is an opportunity to change the dynamics here. As in: “Did you hear the news? There’s a new Eades album coming!” That may or may not mean anything to you, but it’s better than most possible answers to that question. (Also, you definitely did read the news, since you are looking at this blog post.)
