A "mariposa cuatro espejos" or four-mirror moth, holds onto a branch. This beautiful moth, native to southern Mexico, in an endangered species, still common until a few decades ago.
I remember each time a large moth entered the house when I was a child.
It happened four times. Each time, someone around marked the event as an omen.
Those moths were, indeed, omens, foretelling of a time when large, beautiful moths will be no more.
