Do you attend writer events?
Do you go to writer retreats or workshops where an instructor is a well-known, in your genre, author?
The fee you pay for attending might be worthy of making the contacts for future endorsements.
Good behavior. Good reputation.

It is highly likely that at least a few known authors live near you. If you attend local events you may meet them. Do they belong to a state writers group near you? Do they like your genre. Can you introduce yourself in a non-creepy way? Will they help you out?
