Aleksandra Trifunovic is a professor at the University of Cologne, Germany. Her research focuses on unraveling the molecular mechanisms by which mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to diseases and aging, particularly through signaling pathways and stress responses. Her group investigates how mitochondrial DNA mutations, quality control, as well as stress signaling impact cellular adaptation and organ function, in order to develop new therapeutic strategies.
