Introducing some patch reviewers^W judgers for the Evergreen Conference Hackfest today.
#evgils24
I feel like I should have a lot to say about the #evgils24 conference because it's been so good. Maybe I just have a lot of processing to do. In the meantime, here's a picture of Poppy Davis.

Thank you to everyone who participated in making this year's online conference #evgils24 a success. The 2023 Annual Report was released during the Dev Update/State of the Project address. Check it out at evergreen-ils.org/wp-content/u....
From mmorgan: Not knowing git should not prevent you from signing off on bugs. You can sign off by adding a comment to the bug. Instructions for signing off are here - wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=... #EvergreenILS #evgils24
I'm sitting in the "bit of git" session and love how mmorgan's explains version control by referring to how the Microsoft Undo button works. #evgils24

Still thinking about Jane Sandberg's #evgils24 lightning talk in which she tells a story to get us totally rethinking our release process. Sometimes, you just have to start from the ground up.
My first instance of a forgotten hashtag on BlueSky. Expect more to come in the future. #evgils24

Now I get to learn how other consortia manage their support desks. #evgils24
Thanks to PaILS for sponsoring the #evgils24 invited speaker, Terry Reese, creator of MarcEdit.
PaILS is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an integrated library system (ILS) for Pennsylvania libraries and library systems. Find out more at https://sparkpa.org/
Finished my notes for my 11 a.m. session with 15 minutes to spare! Huzzah! #evgils24
Since others are posting their #evgils24 desk buddies here are mine
It's been fun posting to BlueSky for the #evgils24 , but I'm going to need to find more people to keep using this platform. Anyone have any tips for finding #GLAM or #FOSS ( #FLOSS #OSS) folks on here?
Today was definitely a "full up" kind of day for #evgils24. My mind has been sufficiently engaged and then overengaged by both @richlitt.bsky.social and Lewellyn Marshall about mostly completely different things - open source sustainability and optimizing the movement of library materials.
Photo of a gapines cat that was handed out at the 2011 Evergreen conference sitting beside a Linux penguin. The cat is very worn down; the penguin is in pristine condition.
My #evgils24 conference buddies.
Each library in the Missouri Evergreen consortium should have one advanced certified cataloger. #evgils24
Missouri moved to the ODOO OSS Learning Management system. #evgils24
Missouri offers two levels of certification for cataloging. Basic just affects your items; advanced certification is for people who touch MARC records, import, overlay, and create records. #evgils24
I'm now hearing about standards and expectations in cataloging. #evgils24
Important point made in conference chat: not only does #Aspen not handle #evgils metarcord holds, but it cannot display existing metarecord holds that a patron might already have. #evgils24
Ooh! Now we're getting a #VuFind / #Aspen comparison. VuFind is more like a toolbox. Aspen is more of a final product. #evgils24
@roganhamby.bsky.social highlights placards in #Aspen. Marketing for the library in the catalog. #evgils24
Some #evgils features that would still need to be developed for Aspen. Popularity boosting search results, search term highlighting, behind-the-desk holds (?). Code is available for digital bookplates. #evgils24
Benefits of Aspen: Easy local customizations, search speed, electronic record management relying on APIs. #evgils24
Why use @Aspen. "Patrons like it," says @roganhamby.bsky.social. Sold! #evgils24
I forgot that I was planning to live "tweet" this conference until I saw @roganhamby.bsky.social 's bluesky handle on his slide. #evgils24
